In 1998 through 2000, the first 20 acres of Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot were planted; and in 2002, the second 20 acres of vineyards received the cuttings for the Pinot Gris, Lemberger, Chambourcin, Norton and Zweigelt.

Production at Laurita Vineyards focuses on making wines from grapes that are recognized and accepted worldwide, concentrating on the Vinifera, the classic European noble varieties.

In the interest of research and experimentation, five acres have been set aside for growing grapes that, contrary to popular belief, may not fare so well in the New Jersey soil and climate. It is our determination that the proper tending of these acres will indeed produce an excellent bottle of wine as well.

In the same spirit, the winery will be utilizing solar systems to produce clean energy for heat, hot water, steam, cooling and refrigeration. By incorporating a non-polluting solar system we can offset the consumption of traditional fossil fuel sources and maintain the environmental integrity of our planet.

The vineyards overlook The Walkabout at Laurita Winery and the horse paddocks that accommodate the standardbred racehorses that are stabled and train on the vast property.

A newly restored and renovated farmhouse, the Dancer Farm Bed & Breakfast Inn, offers guests the rustic appeal and setting of the original homestead as well as the elegance of designer appointed guest rooms and the comforts of all modern amenities.

Situated on 45 acres, the vineyard will be producing 14,000 cases of wine that will be exclusive to the winery. The Laurita Winery, which will open its doors in Summer 2008, will offer wine tasting, vineyard and winery tours, educational seminars and retail sales.

Our small production gives us control from planting to harvesting to storing to bottling and thus gives us the advantage over the large scale producers in getting the fruit into the bottle as the most natural and purest expression of the vineyard, of the grape varietal and of the vintage. We believe that the production of wines on a reduced scale produces dramatic wines, ones that exhibit flavors that distinguish the particular grape variety and the terroir of the vineyard.
